Roller Barbie-ing in Barcelona
Its hard to stay fit when you're on the road 70% of the time, but whenever I'm back home in Barcelona or Madrid, I get intense. Rollerblading is one of my favorite ways to get in shape and have fun at the same time.
I've been working out forever, nothing really keeps me motivated for more than a couple months. I've done it all: weightlifting, running, spinning, yoga, pilates, Zumba, kick-boxing, boxing, ballet, EVERYTHING...
I recently caught up with a friend in Barcelona who goes everywhere roller-blading. Honestly, I hadn't been skating in years. I even threw away my skates when I moved out of my apartment in Miami, but it got me thinking. I used to LOVE roller-blading, I even played some street hockey back in high school. So, I went to my local Decathlon store in downtown Barcelona and got myself a pair a rollerblades.
To my surprise, they have gotten a lot cheaper since I was a teenager, or so it felt. I got a pair of FILA Skates and put them on right outside the store to avoid the subway back home. Honestly, I figured that spending a one-month's gym fee in a pair wouldn't hurt me, and I've been working out on them since. I even do my squats while skating down the Passeig Maritim by the beach.
So, if you're like me, always on the run, and always getting bored from the same old workout routines, get yourself a pair of skates and go explore the world while you work out.2x1... BINGO!
